Hi,I've recently upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1.With Win 8.1, my default audio device was the speakers built-in on my monitor, connected to my PC via HDMI cable. When I plug in my headphone to the front panel of my PC, the sounds switche automatically to my headphones and the monitor speakers will gosilent.Now with Win 10, my front panel jacks go dead.

I have to plug my headphones to the rear jacks, and then I have to go to windows control panel and change the default audio device every time.Can anyone help me reactivate the front panel jacks, and then let Win 10 automatically switch between monitor speakers and headphones?Appreciate your help. - Realtek's HD Audio Manager has a 'Disable Front Panel Jack Detection' option which gives this functionality, but Realtek's skin for Dell motherboards, which my computer has, does not include this option. So I was thinking: Perhaps this Dell skin is only cosmetic.

I bought the components and had them put together from a local computer shop. My CPU is an Intel i7-3770K 3.5GHz with 16GB RAM on an ITX mother board from ASUS. Sound controller is VIA HD Audio.I've checked all my drivers and they are up to date. Just don't understand why the front audio jack doesn't work, and I had to manually switch between speakers and headphones.I really regret the decision to upgrade to Win 10 now. To me, Win 10 is the worst Windows upgrade ever. I think Microsoft has lost it.Thanks again for your help.

I checked and windows tells me, all my drivers are working fine and up to date.Maybe we need to set some option in BIOS?Edit:Just tried changing from HD to AC97 for the front panel - didn't help.And btw, the microphone is working.Also, is it normal that the front panel isn't listed under jack information in the Speakers Setup?Edit:After installing the VIA HD driver and HD VDeck I am able to manually activate/deactivate speakers and headphones.But no automatic switch when plugin into front panel.I also can't use the VDeck because I don't have a SRS compatible device. Not sure what this means.regards.

Keep it civil and on topic. Alright so, I am using a turtle beach x12 headset on my desktop and I use the front jacks as plugins. I had an issue where the mic worked but no audio would come through.

After fiddling around a bit I might've found a solution and would like some to test it as well.Step 1 - Head to your device managerStep 2 - Under Sound, video, and game controller, there should be a driver named VIA HD Audio.Step 3 - Right click VIA HD Audio and click uninstall. I have had the same problem for the past couple of days.

I tried the steps listed, but they did not work. I fixed the problem by rolling back the realtek audio driver to the previous version. I am not sure if I updated anything before it stopped working, but rolling back the driver fixed the problem.
